An outdated Senate procedural rule, the filibuster, has evolved to require a 60-vote supermajority to pass virtually any important legislation in the Senate. In order to get the strong health care changes we need – and enact countless other popular initiatives – we must revisit the filibuster, which smothers good ideas and stifles real progress in Washington.

I urge our leaders in Washington to end the filibuster in its current form and reform the outdated 60-vote cloture threshold to end the partisan obstructionism currently gripping Washington.
